Mar 27, 2014 (newstodate): Eying significant growth potentials in the Danish market, Lufthansa is strengthening its offerings significantly from this summer.
Lufthansa will increase its current traffic between Copenhagen and Frankfurt by one rotation going up to five daily flights, while the route between Frankfurt and Billund will be operated with Boeing 737-500 replacing the current CRJ700/900 aircraft used on the four daily flights offered.
Compared to summer 2013, this year's summer schedule will entail an increase in volume by 32 percent. On the route between Billund and Frankfurt alone, the increase will run as high as 757 percent, y-o-y.
With this massive expansion Lufthansa is strongly signaling that the former period with close cooperation with the Scandinavian carrier has indeed come to an end, superseded by strong competition over the market.
Also the intense increase in offerings is a move to fight off the growing competition by another Scandinavian contender, Norwegian that is growing its share of the markets these years.
