Mar 11, 2014 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo is to increase its freighter capacity from this summer.
In the first two months of this year, cargo volumes on the MD-11F aircraft constituted 26.3 percent of the total volumes carried, and the percentage of volumes on this traffic increased by 77.4 percent, y-o-y.
Actually, volumes on freighters were so far alone in securing positive growth in the over-all cargo volumes transported by the carrier in 2014.
This summer, Finnair Cargo is therefore to activate a second MD-11F freighter from the pool of four ex-Finnair converted MD-11F aircraft operated by Nordic Global Airlines, launched in August 2011 as a capacity provider JV by the Finnair Group, Neff Capital Management, Daken Capital Partners, and Ilmarinen Mutual Insurance Company.
