Mar 17, 2014 (newstodate): Denmark is the only country in CASS Nordic's monthly Top-10 list without Finnair Cargo among the IATA carriers.
-Denmark is indeed a highly competitive market and represents a true challenge to us, says Juha Jrvinen, Finnair Cargo Adm Dir.
-Seen from Helsinki, Denmark is a bit too far away for trucking, and a bit too close for air transportation, leaving us in a difficult position.
-At the same time, Denmark is easily connected by trucking services to the main Central European hubs, and Copenhagen Airport is serving as a transfer hub for many airlines.
-In short, this is a challenge for us, but as such we are determined to seek ways to increase our share of this airfreight market. Finnair Cargo maintains the intention to grow in Denmark and we will definitely see progress in 2014, says Mr Jrvinen.
In May 2012, the Danish trucking company HCS A/S Transport & Spedition landed a three-year contract with Finnair Cargo.
Under the contract, HCS is responsible for Finnair Cargo's entire air cargo trucking activities in and between all four Nordic markets as well as to and from key North European markets including Germany, Holland, and Belgium.
Finnair Cargo sales in Denmark is contracted to its GSSA, Cargo Care International, and since December 1, 2012, the carrier's cargo is handled Swissport Cargo at Copenhagen Airport.
