Mar 03, 2014 (newstodate): While the Chinese around the world celebrated an early New Year in 2014, the airfreight industry did not exactly take part in the festive mood.
Thus, air cargo volumes at Denmark's Billund Airport dipped by 2.9 percent, y-o-y, to 4,065 tonnes in February 2014, reflecting the quiet season in the industry.
The airport's import volumes were down a hefty 21.4 percent, to 1,394 tonnes, while exports continued to grow by 10.7 percent, to a total of 2,671 tonnes.
During the first two months of this year, the airport generated 8,965 tonnes of cargo, down 0.7 percent, y-o-y, including 3,183 tonnes of imports, down 18.2 percent, and 5,782 tonnes of exports, up 12.5 percent.
