Mar 21, 2014 (newstodate): Latvia's airBaltic and the Gulf carrier Etihad are deepening their code-share cooperation from summer.
Subject to government approvals, the new enhanced cooperation will comprise adding the Etihad prefix to airBaltic's routes from Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich to Riga and continuing from Riga to Abu Dhabi.
When implemented, airBaltic and Etihad Airways will be offering 37 connecting return flights per week between Riga and Abu Dhabi, with both airlines placing their flight codes on services to and from these cities.
airBaltic already places its flight code on Etihad Airways flights between Abu Dhabi and Muscat, and Etihad Airways currently places its flight code on airBaltic services beyond Riga to 10 northern European cities including Bergen, Billund, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, Stavanger, Stockholm, Tallinn, Turku, and Vilnius.
Subject to further government approvals, Etihad Airways plans to add its flight code on airBaltic services beyond Riga to Kiev, Tbilisi, Palanga, and Gothenburg.
The code-share cooperation between the two carriers was launched on December 16, 2013, as airBaltic is started flights on the route between Riga and Abu Dhabi using a leased Airbus A319 aircraft.
