Feb 26, 2014 (newstodate): Turkmenistan is to build a new large airport terminal at Ashgabat, Ashgabat Oghuz Khagan International Airport.
With the new complex and projects, the airport aims to become Central Asia's largest airport in terms of passenger handling capacity that will reach 1,600 per hour.
The Turkish company Polimeks has been contracted to build the new complex, and included in the project are also a new cargo terminal with the capacity of handling up to 200,000 tonnes, VIP terminal, new apron and aircraft parking stands, and the existing two runways will be renovated while a new third 3,800m runway will be constructed as well.
