Feb 21, 2014 (newstodate): Direct air traffic between Singapore and Uzbekistan will soon be launched.
The Uzbek national carrier plans to start flights on the route between Tashkent and Singapore from April 2014, providing the first non-stop direct flight connecting the two countries.
Operating the route will be Uzbekistan Airways currently serving its long-haul routes with a fleet comprising six Boeing 757-200 and nine Boeing 767-300ER aircraft while having also placed orders for delivery of two Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
Still, the passenger volumes on the route may not be enough to operate the long-haul aircraft.
