Feb 19, 2014 (newstodate): Another carrier going through a tough restructuring program is the Slovenian carrier Adria Airways, now reporting positive operating result in 2013.
Passenger numbers on scheduled services grew by 4.8 percent while the number of flights fell by 5.1 percent, y-o-y, driving the pax loading factor up by 6.1 percent to 73.15 percent in 2013, compared to the preceding year - and up 6.8 percent compared to the budget.
The country's business environment has, however, had a negative impact on the competitiveness of the aviation industry in Slovenia in general, and on the possibility of a successful privatisation of Adria Airways and other companies in the sector.
Anyhow, the state is determined to sell the carrier before the end of this year in a second privatization after the first attempt in 2012 when the tender, however, failed to attract bids.
Instead, the state will negotiate directly with potential parties claiming that this has already started to generate positive interest.
Besides Adria Airways, the state is also to sell 14 other state-owned companies including the capital airport at Ljubljana.
