Feb 26, 2014 (newstodate): Will Finnair be put up for a future privatization?
The issue has been raised by a leading official in an interview with a Finnish media, Suomen Kuvalehti.
In the interview, the official heading the unit for state-owned enterprises in Finland cites the airline's imminent need for investments to secure Finnair's position in the Asian air travel market.
-Finnair cannot request money from its owner, the state, and financing can also not be secured through bank injections of loan capital, leaving sale of a stake in the airline to private investors as the only option available, he says.
As majority owner in the carrier, the Finnish state now holds 55.8 percent of the stake in the carrier.
