Feb 12, 2014 (newstodate): Estonian Air has a strong focus on passenger traffic, but air cargo is still an important complement to the carrier's business.
-Given the limited cargo space in bellies of our CRJ900 and E-170 aircraft, our cargo capacity is of course scarce as well, says Enn Lamp, Estonian Air Head of Sales & Distribution Department.
-Having said that, cargo still counts as we do fly smaller shipments in the express segment as well as other hi-value goods like pharmaceuticals and spares. Air mail is also attractive for us, and we have agreements with various postal authorities benefiting from our frequent flights between Tallinn and especially Copenhagen and Stockholm where we operate three or even four flights a day.
-Since August 1, 2012, Estonian Air has outsourced the entire cargo business to the French air cargo management company Concorde Aviation that has all rights to act on our behalf in setting rates, signing contracts with partners and for instance cargo handling companies at our stations. We then share revenues with Concorde Aviation, leaving us free to focus on the passenger operations, says Mr Lamp.
