Feb 24, 2014 (newstodate): A new cargo carrier under formation in Slovakia, Air Cargo Global, is preparing for launch of services.
According to the German media Cargo Forwarder Global, the new carrier with HQs at Bratislava is backed also by Chinese capital and will be operating two Boeing 747-400SP freighters on a lease contract with Avion Aircraft Trading, Olaf Schumacher as Head of Flight Operations, and Alexander Kirichenko as Head of Sales.
Slovakian national Igor Bondarenko is reportedly the majority owner of the carrier, with a minority stake held by Andrey Goryashko, formerly heading Aeroflot Cargo.
The new carrier will take off from where Air Cargo Germany left when it lost its AOC on April 18, 2013, focusing on cargo operations between Europe and Hong Kong, with its prime hub at Frankfurt Airport.
The airline is, however, still to obtain an AOC and a commercial license before operations may be started.
