Feb 11, 2014 (newstodate): Lithuania's new carrier Air Lituanica has now secured one further aircraft for the 2014 summer flight schedule.
According to Lithuanian media, Air Lituanica will lease one CRJ-200 aircraft from the Danish carrier Cimber, to be operated alongside its own Embraer 175 aircraft operated on a leasing contract with ECC Leasing Company, an Embraer subsidiary.
Earlier, the carrier told newstodate that it would take in two more Embraer aircraft, bringing the fleet to a total of three aircraft enabling the opening of new destinations in 2014.
So far, no information about a third aircraft has been received.
Until 28 November 2013, Air Lituanica operated one Embraer E170 on a wet-lease contract with Estonian Air, but the lease term was abruptly cut short as the parties disagreed over contractual payment issues that have now been brought to the court by Air Lituanica, with similar claims expected to filed also by the Estonian party.
