Feb 18, 2014 (newstodate): Optimism is blooming at Latvia's cargo GSSA Sky High Agency, serving Belavia Cargo in the region.
Latest addition to Belavia's route network was the launch of the route between Minsk and Vilnius, Lithuania, and the carrier is already online at Riga, Latvia since January 19, 2010, and at Helsinki, in Finland, since June 1, 2011, all markets served by Sky High Agency as the carrier's cargo GSSA.
-Vilnius is indeed booming and has been so right from the start on December 19, 2013, where Belavia introduced eight weekly rotations, says Agris Sedolins, Sky High managing director & owner.
-The routes is served with CRJ200 aircraft that has limited cargo capacity. But is is perfect for small-size, high value and express shipments that are carried on the route by only 40 minutes flying time, avoiding queues in the road traffic between the two countries. Shipments mainly comprise electronics and pharmaceuticals and other commodities that are carried at competitive, but fairly high rates.
-The flights from Riga are doing well also, despite the strong competition from other carriers including Aeroflot and UIA, and volumes on the route from Helsinki have remained fairly stable in 2013, marked by contracts with a few customers holding firm allotments contributing to a load factor at 80 percent on an average.
-So all in all, we are doing well, volumes were stable over-all in 2013, and we actually expect volumes to grow three-fold in 2014. What more can you hope for, says Mr Sedolins.
