Feb 04, 2014 (newstodate): Efforts by the Croatian government to sell the country's national carrier Croatia Airlines through a tender opened in October, 2013, ended without one single bidder in sight. Now new hopes are rising..
It has been reported local media that a few Chinese airline groups have been sniffing at Croatia Airlines, but without participating in the tender which Chinese carriers reportedly seldom do.
After hopes for sale through a tender process have failed, the Croatian government is instead to seek direct negotiations with potential investors, and a delegation is to go to China this month to present these Chinese companies with Croatia's offering.
Both China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines have reportedly shown interest in a stake in Croatia Airlines, sources say.
