Feb 28, 2014 (newstodate): In Denmark, five out of 10 carriers increased their cargo volumes in January 2014 while the remaining carriers on the IATA Top-10 list dipped, causing the market to decline by 8.5 percent to a total of 5,556 tonnes.
#1 was SAS Cargo with 1,024 tonnes, down 9.9 percent, y-o-y, followed by KLM Cargo that increased by 24.5 percent, and Thai that was also up by 14 percent.
#4, Qatar Airways dropped its volumes by 6.8 percent, and Emirates, #5, was also down by 19.3 percent.
#6, Lufthansa Cargo increased its volumes by 22.3 percent, followed by Korean Air Lines with a drop by 27.6 percent, and Cargolux rising 29.8 percent, while Singapore Airlines was down by 7.3 percent.
Rounding off the Top-10 list was Virgin Atlantic with an increase by 84.4 percent while carrying only 142 tonnes.
January 2014 was, however, strongly marked by the early Chinese New Year that fell in February in 2013 and thus influencing the statistics for the first two months of this year.
