Feb 03, 2014 (newstodate): With 24 mio passengers in 2013, Denmark's Copenhagen Airport is still the largest in Scandinavia.
To further this position, Copenhagen Airport has now published an ambitious plan to grow passenger volumes to 40 mio by 2030, and to add a further 15 new long-haul routes to destinations including Hong Kong, Bombay, Boston, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Mexico City, Nairobi, New Delhi, Sao Paolo, Seattle, Seoul and Vancouver.
Today, the airport has 27 long-haul routes, and the development in this segment is to be bolstered by construction of a new dedicated long-haul pier capable of handling today's largest aircraft including the Airbus A380.
The airport is embarking on an aggressive marketing effort to bring in new operators and support SAS in its continued development.
It remains to be seen if the airport will realize its ambitions - SAS will most probably not be able to come up with 15 new long-haul routes on it own..
