Feb 04, 2014 (newstodate): A new cargo terminal is to be built at Russia's Samara Kurumoch International Airport serving the Volga region.
Pending final approval, a tender for a general constructor will be opened in April 2014, and the construction works will start soon after that.
Equipment for the new cargo terminal has already been procured, and the building process will be conducted along the airport's other major projects including the construction of a new passenger terminal and a new second runway.
In 2013, the airport handled 2,167,728 passengers, an increase by 14.7 percent, y-o-y, as well as 19,024 tonnes of cargo which was up 18 percent, y-o-y.
