Feb 05, 2014 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic is soon to expand its Baltic penetration - on wheels...
Starting from this summer's schedule, or slightly thereafter, airBaltic is to introduce bus services between Riga Airport and a number of regional centers in the Baltic region comprising also Estonia and Lithuania.
-As a focal point for commerce and culture in the Baltic region, Riga is in the unique position that no major point in the three countries is more than four hours drive away, says Janis Vanags, airBaltic VP communications.
-Our new bus service is designed to match the morning flights from Riga Airport as well as the evening arrivals, enabling travelers from the entire Baltic region to fly in and out of Riga and connect to and from their home city or final destination, and granting incoming passengers similar access.
-The new bus service will be bookable via the reservation systems in connection to the air ticket, and many cities in this region will thus emerge as new destinations.
-The new service will be launched with three routes in the first phase, all of them including one en-route point and thus generating six destinations. As the plan unfolds, more and more routes and cities will be added to provide comprehensive coverage by airBaltic bus services, also boosting the airline's market penetration, says Mr Vanags.
