Dec 08, 2014 (newstodate): Despite the current decline in the country's market for air travel, Ukraine International Airlines is planning for opening a new route to the Baltic region in 2015.
Starting from March 30, 2015, Ukraine International Airlines will launch services on the route connecting Kiev and Riga in Latvia, using Boeing 737-500 and Embraer E190 aircraft on weekday flights.
Since March 30, 2014, the route has been operated by UTAir-Ukraine that however ceased all Ukrainian services from November this year due to a new law by Ukraine's government limiting the presence of foreign air companies in Ukraine.
Already operating the route for years, airBaltic has been in a code-share agreement with UIA, but is not known if this is still in effect.
