Dec 11, 2014 (newstodate): Slovenia wants to sell its flag carrier Adria Airways - and a new tender is being prepared to open in 2015.
This is not the first time, however. A similar tender process in August 2012 attracted some interest among carriers - but eventually no bids were placed.
Following a deep investigation ending in August 2014, the Commission found that the capital injections between 2007 and 2010 did not constitute State aid, and that the sale of shares in Adria Airways Tehnika was conducted under market conditions.
The Commission's investigation also showed that Adria's restructuring program is based on realistic assumptions and will enable the company's long-term viability.
The carrier is, however, still in bad financial standing, so a decision has now been made to conduct a sale-lease back operation for its two CRJ900 aircraft which will help the carrier to clear debts and stabilize its financial situation to boost its value as a viable investment object in the eyes of the participants in the coming tender.
