Dec 18, 2014 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport is on the map of Ryanair since October 31, 2004, and currently offering six routes.
But the airport is still not reassured that Ryanair will continue its operations after the start of next years summer schedules from March 29, 2015, as the agreement between Riga Airport and Ryanair has still not been renewed after implementation of a new airport charges scheme.
The new airport charges will entail certain cost risings, and while another LCC operating at the airport, Wizz Air has agreed to the new rates, Ryanair has still to respond.
In the autumn 2011 a rift also developed between Ryanair and Riga Airport over airport charges, with Ryanair threatening to scale down by 30 percent in a protest against the introduction of security charges - but the problems were overcome at the time.
