Dec 08, 2014 (newstodate): The list of Russian airlines is shrinking, with Moskovia Airlines and Polet Airlines being stripped of their wings.
On December 5, 2014, the Russian authorities revoked the AOC of Moskovia Airlines after unpaid bills left the carrier in financial mire and forced it to stop flights from the end of August 2014.
By the end of its activities, the Moscow Domodedovo Airport-based carrier operated a fleet of three Superjet 100 and one Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
Also Polet Airlines is in trouble as it was placed under administration by a Moscow Arbitration Court on Friday, November 28, 2014, as its two AN-124 Ruslan freighters were arrested over unpaid leasing bills.
The Voronezh-based carrier operates a fleet of 18 passenger aircraft and 10 freighters, and its future currently seems unclear.
