Dec 09, 2014 (newstodate): IATA is taking the first steps towards implementing the e-AWB in the Baltic region, and one Estonian company is keen to play a role in the process.
Ospentos International, a subsidiary of the Finnish handling provider Ospentos set up in Estonia in 2006, is now marketing its web-based IT system Q-step, dedicated to handling companies, in the Baltic region and participated in the recent first IATA meeting with stakeholders in the process in Riga, Latvia.
-Our system, Q-step facilitates a full range of e-cargo possibilities integrating with airlines, RFS providers and freight forwarders, but also with other pertinent parties such as governmental offices including customs, says Haiti Arendi, Ospentos International Member of the Board.
-Our first customer is Finland's new cargo center, ASR Cargo Center, but we are now strengthening our efforts to market this system among air cargo-related companies in the Baltic region as well and will be ready to support efforts to introduce e-AWBs is the region as the process unfolds, says Mr Arendi.
