Dec 12, 2014 (newstodate): Stavanger Sola Airport, serving Norway's center for off-shore industry, saw cargo volumes up by 50.5 percent in November 2014, to 308 tonnes.
The increase reflects the introduction of two new all-cargo operations at the airport - a once-weekly Airbus A330-200F freighter service by Qatar Airways Cargo connecting Stavanger and Doha from November 3, 2014, and another weekly call by a Boeing 777F from Lufthansa Cargo starting from November 8, 2014.
The Qatar Airways freighter calls at Stavanger on its return flight from Brussels to Doha, while the Lufthansa Cargo operation involves an en-route stop at Stavanger on the flight from Houston to Frankfurt, connecting the two leading off-shore oil & gas destinations in the USA and Norway.
In January-November 2014 the airport has thus seen an increase by 98.7 percent, y-o-y, in cargo totaling 1,231 tonnes.
