Dec 09, 2014 (newstodate): November did not contribute to cargo growth at Finnair in 2014.
A total of 12,431 tonnes of cargo was carried, down three percent, y-o-y, notably due to a drop by 15.4 percent in freighter cargo to 2,682 tonnes, while loads on the Asian traffic increased by only 0.5 percent, y-o-y, to 6,857 tonnes.
The over-all load factor was, however, significantly up by 10.1 percentage-points as Finnair reined in its production in available tonne kilometers by 14.3 percentage-points while sales in revenue tonne kilometers were down only 1.8 percentage-points.
This trend was especially strong in the Asian traffic where the load factor was up no less than 13 percentage-points.
In the 11 months of 2014 Finnair has carried 137,823 tonnes of cargo, up 2.2 percent, y-o-y, including 75,660 tonnes on the Asian traffic, up 1.2 percent, y-o-y.
Cargo on Finnair's freighter flights during January-November was up 5.8 percent, y-o-y, to 31,482 tonnes.
This traffic will stop completely by the end of this year as Finnair Cargo retreats again from the freighter market, seeing the future rather with an increasing cargo capacity as the carrier gradually takes in its fleet of Airbus A350 aircraft beginning from Q4, 2015.
