Dec 05, 2014 (newstodate): Finland's fledgling charter carrier Snowbird Airlines, founded on May 22, 2013, is to take a time-out.
Managed by Marja Aalto, Air Finland Sales and Production Manager from March 2010 till the demise of carrier in June 2012, Snowbird made its first flight, operated by Smartlynx Estonia, on October 2, 2014.
Presently, all flights have been cancelled and the airline is now trying to reorganize with new investors and a new business plan.
The airline has had a tough start in an environment marked by a general downturn in Finland's economy that is tightly bound to trade with Russia where the Ukrainian crisis is casting long shadows over the economy.
Snowbird Airlines had planned to launch its own scheduled and charter flights with Airbus A320 aircraft from the end of this year, but all flights are now kept on hold.
