Dec 16, 2014 (newstodate): As part of its plan for growth, Expanding CPH, Copenhagen Airport will make preparations for handling of very large aircraft, like the Airbus A380.
This will require the widening of one 3,300m runway to allow for A380 operations, and plans are also to add equip one of three new aircraft parking stands in Pier C with two jet-bridges to facilitate faster boarding and dis-embarkation of the A380 aircraft's up to 500 passengers.
Copenhagen Airport envisages passenger volumes to grow to 40 mio passengers over the coming 20-30 years, with this year's passenger volumes exceeding 25 mio for the first time in the airport's history.
So far the only visit to Copenhagen Airport by an Airbus A380 was in connection with a Lufthansa presentation tour in 2013.
