Dec 12, 2014 (newstodate): The Danish carrier Cimber A/S will end its days in good order by the end of March 2015 when its acquisition by SAS will be completed.
-Our contract with SAS to provide flight with four CRJ200 aircraft on regional routes end on this date as will also another contract with NextJet for flights on a Swedish domestic route. After this date the slate is clean, and the leasing contract for the four aircraft also ends on this date, March 30, 2015, says Jorgen Nielsen, Cimber accountable manager and owner.
-Already in September, all staff were informed of the forthcoming closing of all activities, so the company will cease activities in good order. I myself will be available for SAS as might be requested but apart from that there are no obligations between us after the cut-over date, says Mr Nielsen.
Cimber was established on May 15, 2012 after the bankruptcy earlier the same month of Cimber Sterling that met its destiny after the Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoyski acquired a majority stake in 2011.
Having acquired Cimber's AOC, SAS plans to set up a new carrier, separate from the mother airline, to provide flights on the regional network with the 12 CRJ900 aircraft in its fleet.
