Dec 22, 2014 (newstodate): The future for SAS' Finnish subsidiary lies in serving as a production platform for the carrier.
-The decision has been made to divest of Blue1's fleet of Boeing 717 aircraft, to be replaced by a number of Boeing 737 aircraft, but first of all a new strategy for Blue1 has to be designed and prior to that few details are available, says Trine Kromann-Mikkelsen, SAS press officer in Denmark.
In the fleet of Blue1 are nine Boeing 717, four of which have already been divested while the remaining five will be phased out by autumn 2015.
According to Ms Kromann-Mikkelsen, it will probably take about one year before all details in the future of Blue1 have been worked out.
Earlier, SAS acquired the Danish regional carrier Cimber that will also become part of a new set of SAS production platforms with own aircraft, crews and contracts.
