Dec 05, 2014 (newstodate): Star Alliance member Ethiopian Airlines may be mulling plans for launching flights to Oslo Gardermoen Airport in 2015.
According to Norwegian media, the carrier may start out with connecting Oslo in Norway to its route since October 28, 2003, between Addis Abeba in Ethiopia and Stockholm in Sweden.
Until 2003, the carrier was operating its Scandinavian service at Copenhagen Airport, in Denmark, but switched to Sweden as this market comprises larger potentials for ethnic traffic.
Starting from October 26, 2014, the carrier has been operating four weekly flights on the route from Addis Abeba to Stockholm via Vienna, using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on all flights.
If realized, the route at Oslo Gardermoen Airport would be the airport's first direct route to Africa.
