Dec 09, 2014 (newstodate): No doubt, the African traffic is one of the key assets of Air France/KLM Cargo in the Danish market.
-Air France's route network in Africa has always been important for Danish exporters, and the customer base includes both regular customers with recurrent loads for Africa, but also a significant number of other exporters that have occasional air transport needs benefiting from our African routes, says Soren Roerstroem, Air France/KLM Cargo commercial manager Denmark & Norway.
-Among our regular customers is Unicef, not least in these times of fighting against the Ebola in West Africa.
-As any other IATA carriers these days, we are seeing rates dipping low. Obviously not all carriers have implemented a strict yield-management system as AF/KLM Cargo has done - it seems that there are airlines lifting cargo at close to zero rates, and then there is a number of non-IATA carriers that do not fly rates openly at all.
-Still, the pressure on rates between Europe and Africa is not as devastating as in other markets, says Mr Roerstroem.
