Nov 18, 2014 (newstodate): Air cargo volumes at Lithuania's Vilnius Airport are comparatively small - but growing in 2014.
A total of 6,456 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at the airport during the first 10 months of this year, an increase by 4.39 percent, y-o-y.
In October volumes were 859 tonnes, up 5.93 percent, y-o-y, including 721 tonnes of cargo - the largest monthly volume so far in 2014.
Among the carriers contributing to the growth in cargo are the integrators, Air Lituanica, airBaltic, and Turkish Airlines that is now offering two weekly rotations between Istanbul and Vilnius since October 26, 2014, after splitting the thrice-weekly triangular flights Istanbul-Tallinn-Vilnius-Istanbul from June 11, 2013, into two dedicated Baltic services.
