Nov 25, 2014 (newstodate): Before year-end, US-based Global First Response Inc must deposit money to complete the process of acquiring all shares in a new company, Northcape Turnaroundport AS set up in 2014 to provide handling of cruise ships in Lakselv, in the country's northernmost region.
The group is also behind Viking International Airlines that plans to place up to five Boeing 747 aircraft at Banak Airport to offer flights to destinations in North America and Asia.
Global First Response, owned by US national John Kunkle, has however still to prove that it is capable of delivery money on the table.
Norwegian media has revealed that Mr Kunkle was declared bankrupt in 2010, leaving a significant debts pile to creditors, and that he was also filed for bankruptcy in 2014 by JP Morgan Chase Bank.
In addition, Global first Response Inc has scored a low credit rating by Dun & Bradstreet, again according to Norwegian media.
The business idea by Mr Kunkle has been to see the investment in Northcape Turnaroundport AS as a means to generate traffic potentials for Viking Int'l Airlines' flights by transferring crews and passengers for cruise ships between USA and Norway, in combination with cargo business from Norway's salmon exporters and own in-house engagement in this industry.
Plans by Viking Int Int'l Airlines furthermore comprise the building of new cargo facilities at Banak Airport.
What now remains to be seen if there is actually money power behind the lofty ambitions.
