Nov 12, 2014 (newstodate): Despite the adverse effects from the turbulence in the Ukrainian market, Estonian Air has largely managed to maintain its passenger volumes, even growing again in October 2014.
During January-October 2014, the number of passengers carried was down only slightly by 0.2 percent, y-o-y, to 471,448, and in October passenger volumes were actually up 15.3 percent, y-o-y, to 51,224 passengers.
The production measured in number of flights was however up to 9,292 flights during the first 10 months of this year, bringing the average load factor down.
Talks over a sale of the carrier to the Estonian transport group Tallink were announced by the end of October 2014, and the Estonian Air Supervisory Council has approved of a revised restructuring plan on the basis of the potential agreement, after which the plan was forwarded to the EU Commission on October 31, 2014.
Expectations are that eventual sales procedures will move fast and be finalized even before the end of this year.
