Nov 20, 2014 (newstodate): The US carrier under formation, Baltia Airlines is amid its last phase of the certification program to be finally issued with its AOC and commercial license.
The latest step is the completion of the FAA Tabletop Exercise - a Phase III test of the Air Carrier Certification process wherein personnel are required to demonstrate their competence and proficiency in the company's operating procedures before the FAA.
Prior to that, Baltia Airlines also announced that its Boeing 747-200 has met the FAA aircraft conformity requirements assuring that the aircraft has met regulatory requirements and is ready for flight operations.
The aircraft has also completed a D-Check, the most comprehensive inspection that an airliner undergoes, occurring every six years.
The inspection, performed by Kalitta Airlines Maintenance, involves structural and systems testing using X-ray, ultrasound, and other methods.
By early October, the carrier entered the Phase III comprising the Table Top Exercise, Mini-Evacuation Demonstration, and Proving Flights.
When all requirements are met and the AOC and license has been issued, Baltia Airlines will start out with flights on its first route between New York and St Petersburg.
