Nov 11, 2014 (newstodate): Plans for launch of services by the US carrier under formation, Baltic Air Lines are moving yet another step forward.
By mid-October 2014, the carrier announced the completion of Phase II and the start of Phase III of the FAA Air Carrier Certification process.
The Phase III comprises Table Top Exercise, Mini-Evacuation Demonstration, and Proving Flights and will pave the way for the final go-ahead for the carrier with issuance of the AOC.
Speculations are now that the ongoing unrest in Ukraine and the constraints on US relations with Russia will lead to start of Boeing 747-200 services between USA and Europe rather than the original business plan that focuses on direct services between New York and St Petersburg as the first step.
Baltia Air Lines has also designated Riga, in Latvia, to be among the key destinations to be served, and this might become the first operation to be introduced in the current situation.
