Nov 19, 2014 (newstodate): Good to know: the Estonian state is always there to help its state-owned carrier Estonian Air in times of need...
Following on the verdict at the Stockholm Arbitration Court, Estonian Air must pay about one mio euro to Air Lituanica to settle the issues after the abrogation of their cooperation on November 28, 2013.
Luckily for the carrier, the state is now preparing to lend national carrier Estonian Air another 12.1 million euros as the last remaining part part of a loan that was granted in February 2013.
The Estonian transport group Tallink is currently finalizing a deal to take over all shares in the carrier, but a precondition is that all debts are cleared up before ink will be applied to the papers.
The sale is expected to be concluded before the end of this year, but looming on the horizon is still the final outcome of the EU probe into Estonian Air for alleged illegal state aid.
The EU Commission initialed its probe into Estonian Air in February 2013, expanding it in April 2013 and again in February 2014.
