Nov 26, 2014 (newstodate): Air cargo through Iceland's Keflavik Airport was up only 1.8 percent, y-o-y, in October 2014.
A total of 3,956 tonnes of cargo was handled during the month, compared to 3,887 tonnes in October 2013.
During the first 10 months of this year, the airport has been handling a total of 35,595 tonnes of cargo, also a slight increase by 1.9 percent, y-o-y.
The statistics are ambiguous, however, as the airport does not count transfer cargo as a separate category, listing it instead twice as import and export.
Aircraft movements at the airport were up 21.4 percent, y-o-y, but most of the increase in traffic is generated by low-cost carriers taking and bringing no or only little air cargo.
