Nov 20, 2014 (newstodate): The French ECS Group has expanded its grip on the Nordic GSSA market by the acquisition of the HWF Group, Heavyweight Freight with companies in Denmark, Sweden, and Finland.
The deal has not been publicly announced by either party but is confirmed by HWF in the absence of all HWF owners presently away from office.
HWF Sweden is the mother company, with public limited companies in Denmark and Finland, while HWF Norway is an extension of the Swedish company.
ECS already owns the Scandinavian GSA companies Universal GSA and Nordic GSA, and all companies work independently of each other and of ECS.
Among the major assets of the HWF Group is the contract with Singapore Airlines Cargo since October 2011, covering sales in Sweden and Finland.
Another significant customer with HWF is Air Canada since January 1, 2014, comprising sales in all four Nordic markets.
Other airline principals include Etihad Crystal Cargo in Scandinavia, Saudi Arabian Airlines in all Nordic countries, and a range of other carriers.
