Nov 14, 2014 (newstodate): Finnair is slightly easing its consistent focus on its Asian network by re-allocating one long-haul aircraft from an Asian to a new North American route in Summer 2015.
Coming in is Chicago as a new Finnair destination from June 13 to October 17, 2015, served three times weekly with an airbus A330 aircraft.
The aircraft capacity is to be secured by suspending instead summer flights between Helsinki and Hanoi.
The three-time weekly seasonal service to Hanoi started from July 14, 2013, heralding Finnair's status as the only European airline to offer a direct connection from Europe to Hanoi, the carrier's 12th Asian destination after Bangkok, Beijing, Chongqing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Nagoya, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo.
Starting from the winter 2013/14 schedule, Finnair Cargo also launched a twice-weekly MD-11F freighter service between Helsinki and Hanoi, but the service was discontinued from this summer's schedule.
