Nov 07, 2014 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo's Asian traffic did increase in October 2014 - but not enough to secure over-all growth in volumes.
All counted, the airline's cargo volumes were down by 3.2 percent, y-o-y, to 12,983 tonnes.
Cargo on the carrier's scheduled passenger flights dropped 0.4 percent, y-o-y, to 10,479 tonnes, while cargo on freighter operations was down 13.3 percent to 2,504 tonnes due to a downsized program, compared to last year.
The Asian loads were up 1.8 percent, y-o-y, to 7,583 tonnes while all other segments showed negative growth - most notably on the North Atlantic traffic where volumes dropped 12.6 percent to 541 tonnes.
During January-October 2014 the company transported a total of 125,393 tonnes of cargo, up 2.7 percent, y-o-y, including 96,592 tonnes on passenger flights, up 1.1 percent, and 28,801 tonnes on freighters, up 8.4 percent.
The crucial Asian volumes were up only 1.3 percent during the period, to 58,803 tonnes, while the European volumes were up 1.5 percent to 19,992 tonnes.
