Nov 26, 2014 (newstodate): One airfreight forwarding company in Denmark is reporting sound growth and progress in 2014: Airlog.
-We have seen a clear positive trend in 2014 and are indeed above last year's performance, says Claus Birkbak, Airlog Branch Manager at Copenhagen Airport.
-Our business builds on serving niche industries where high competence is built up on specific defined segments, including aerospace, pharma and fur export logistics.
-Strongly backed by our international partner SDV, we are increasing our position in the aerospace segment that comprises a number of Danish specialized companies including SATAIR and others. This requires 24/7 services at high speed to cater to the needs of AOG situations and other urgent requirements by airlines.
-Another niche is pharmaceuticals where our efforts are focused on transportation of for instance clinical test shipments requiring prompt handling and certification to GDP standards fully met by Airlog. These shipments are not voluminous but are most time- and temperature sensitive.
-Airlog is also among three forwarders serving Kopenhagen Furs that is actually Denmark's largest exporting company to the Chinese market. Until recently, we were located in-house at Kopenhagen Furs but we have now relocated to a new office near Copenhagen with staff dedicated to serving this customer.
-Airlog started out with two employees, today we are employing 16 staff at Copenhagen serving air cargo customer, in addition to 10-12 staff at Aarhus focusing on seafreight.
-In all these niche segments, shipments are high-value, critical and time-sensitive translating into business at yield margins above today's inflated cargo rate levels, says Mr Birkbak.
