Oct 31, 2014 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Airways saw its passenger volumes down, but cargo up, during January-September 2014.
A total of 1.976 mio passengers were carried during the period, down 4.1 percent, y-o-y.
On the cargo side, the carrier lifted 32,000 tonnes which was up 7.1 percent, y-o-y.
The drop in passenger volumes is ascribed to the Ukrainian crisis that closed operations at two airport in Ukraine and decreased demands on routes to the Russian destinations Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Mineral Water, Samara, Kaliningrad, Krasnodar and Tyumen.
The carrier also reduced traffic to Paris, Riga, and Tokyo and closed flights to Geneva from May 20, 2014.
In the fleet of Uzbekistan Airways are 31 western-built aircraft, including four Boeing 767-300, five Boeing 757-200 and four Boeing 767-300-ER, as well as three Airbus A310 and 10 Airbus A320-200, three Avro RJ-85 and two Airbus A300-600F freighters.
