Oct 09, 2014 (newstodate): Is Qatar Airways Cargo to expand its services in Norway by setting up new freighter flights at Stavanger Airport?
-I am aware that the carrier has shown some interest in Stavanger Airport, but we do not have any concrete information beyond that yet, says Leif Lorentzen, Stavanger Airport Director.
-If the carrier would eventually decide to operate at Stavanger, this would probably be driven by the Norwegian and foreign oil and gas companies that are located in this region and maybe providing a market for a weekly rotation.
No official information has been obtained from the carrier or its Norwegian cargo GSA.
Other sources seem to confirm that flights will indeed be launched with a weekly call at Stavanger on the freighter service from Brussels to Doha, presumably starting from October 20, 2014 and operated with an Airbus A330-200F aircraft.
It remains to be seen if the planned operation at Stavanger will complement, or replace one of the currently three weekly Qatar Airways Cargo operations at Norway's Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
