Oct 31, 2014 (newstodate): Ryanair's announcement of the opening of its new traffic at Copenhagen Airport as the carrier's 40th base from March 2015 with up to four Boeing 737-800 aircraft will have no effect on its current traffic at Denmark's second-largest international airport, Billund.
-No, the opening of routes at Copenhagen Airport will not have any effect on our operations at Billund. Our plan is to grow and bring the lowest fares for the customers in Denmark, says Elina Hakkarainen, Ryanair Manager - Scandinavia and Baltics.
Ms Hakkarainen also confirms that Ryanair is deep into negotiations with handling companies at Copenhagen Airport while no decision has been made yet.
Industry sources expect the choice to finally be Aviator's subsidiary, Copenhagen Flight Services already handling EasyJet and Transavia.
-We would of course be happy to be selected by Ryanair but it is still to early to know how things will turn out, says Torben Andersen, Copenhagen Flight Services managing director.
