Oct 10, 2014 (newstodate): The new US airline planning to offer Transatlantic flights to Europe, Baltia Air Lines seems to be speeding up its efforts significantly in 2014.
While preparations started more than 20 years ago, 2014 has been marked by a series of contracts indicating stepped-up efforts to prepare for a launch of business once the FAA has completes the certification process, issuing an AOC and an operating license.
Latest news from Baltia Air Lines is a contract with Cargo Airport Services at New York JFK for cargo handling, a contract with F&E Aircraft Maintenance for line maintenance at the airport, and a contract with World Fuel Services for fuel services.
Also a ground handling services contract has been signed with Swissport at New York JFK.
The carrier's business plans includes start of Boeing 747 flights between New York and St Petersburg, Russia, later adding flights to the capital cities of Eastern Europe, including Moscow, Riga, Kiev, and Minsk.
