Oct 06, 2014 (newstodate): Qatar Airways Cargo, already operating freighter services from January 29, 2013, at Norway's Oslo Gardermoen Airport may be planning a new freighter service to Norway.
Industry sources claim that the carrier will set up a new all-cargo service at Stavanger Airport with Airbus A330/Boeing 777F freighter aircraft.
The information has yet to be officially confirmed, but sources say the new flights will start from this month already.
If this will indeed hold true, it remains to be seen if Stavanger may become an en-route stop in one, or both, directions on an existing freighter route between Europe and the Gulf region.
The carrier is currently calling at Oslo Gardermoen Airport as an en-route stop on its freighter flights between Amsterdam and Doha.
Besides the ever-present Norwegian seafood exports, Stavanger is also a key locality in Norway's booming oil and gas industries as well a center for the country's maritime industry.
