Oct 28, 2014 (newstodate): With the launch of its first-ever freighter service at Norway's Stavanger Airport, Lufthansa Cargo is focusing on the profitable and growing business in the country's oil and gas industries.
Lufthansa Cargo will provide a weekly Boeing 777F freighter service at Stavanger starting from November 8, 2014, adding this en-route destination to the flight from Houston to Frankfurt, connecting the two leading off-shore oil & gas destinations in the USA and Norway.
-We will unload shipments from the US Oil and Gas businesses, and we will load shipments from Norway's Oil and Gas business via Frankfurt Airport. This has our full focus, and we expect significant loads on both inbound and outbound flights, says Alexander Kohnen, Lufthansa Cargo Director for the Nordic and Baltic countries.
The company is thus strengthening its offerings to the Norwegian oil & gas industries while still keeping away from the country's other booming and dominating air cargo commodity - the seafood market.
-It is still not priced in a range where I would like to get active, says Mr Kohnen.
