Oct 02, 2014 (newstodate): One Russian carrier is now to expand services at Simferopol Airport, on Crimea now under Russian de-facto control.
Starting from October 10, 2014, Grozny Avia, based in
Chechnya, will offer regular direct flights between Simferopol and Yerevan, in Armenia, using Yak-42 aircraft.
The airport re-opened for international traffic from July 19, 2014, after Russia's annexation of the Crimean peninsula, and Grozny Avia is already offering two weekly rotations on the route between Simferopol and Istanbul.
The carrier has mulled plans for taking in Airbus A320 Family aircraft to grow its capacity from today's fleet of four Yak-42D.
