Jan 17, 2014 (newstodate): Ukraine's Kiev Borispol Airport expects to see a sustained increase in arrivals by new carriers in 2014, continuing last year's positive trend.
In 2014, newcomer to Kiev will include Emirates that has already launched flights from January 16, 2014, from Dubai, and Air Serbia will start operations between Belgrade and Kiev from this summer.
The Slovenian airline Adria Airways is preparing to open a new route from Ljubljana to Kiev, and the Italian carrier Air Italy will start operations between Milan and Kiev in 2014.
Besides, the airport is currently negotiating with other airlines planning for flights to Kiev from Istanbul, Thessaloniki, Budapest and other destinations.
In 2013 Kiev Borispol Airport welcomed new operators including Swiss International Air Lines, Air Astana, Fly Georgia, Kharkov Airlines and Meridiana.
The airport was hit hard by the demise of Aerosvit in early 2013, but passenger volumes returned to growth in Q4, 2013, with 531,000 passengers - up 8.6 percent, y-o-y.
